On Thursday, 31-3-2022, the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue held a quarterly symposium entitled “Is Iraq facing a water war?” . the Institute hosted Mr. Nizar al-Khairallah, Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Adel Badiwi, Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, University of Baghdad.

The symposium highlighted several key subjects related to the water crisis in Iraq.

Mr. Nizar Al-Khairallah spoke about the latest developments in the Iraqi water issue, the position of the Iraqi negotiator in the face of technical and political dilemmas, and the tools that Iraq possesses in front of other parties. He also reviewed the most prominent local, regional and international problems that may exacerbate the water crisis.

As for Dr. Adel Badawi, he presented a research paper that dealt with the Iraqi water crisis, and explained the possible solutions by drawing a number of paths and stages that the crisis must pass through to reach a solution that prevents the imminent implications and risks to Iraq because of this issue.

the symposium also benefited from the input of a number of concerned researchers.
