Geopolitical Insurance: Understanding Threat Response Strategies in International Relations

Author: Dr. Karrar Anwar Al-Badiri

We are pleased to present the new book, “Geopolitical Insurance: Threat Response Strategies in International Relations”, which aims to contribute to the Arabic library and the field of theory in international relations and strategic studies.

This book delves into the topic of threat response strategies in international relations, providing a comprehensive analysis and classification of these strategies. It explores the motives behind decision-making, and identifies the factors that influence the choices made by states in the face of threats. For example, it examines the reasons behind Russia’s decision to go to war with Ukraine, and analyzes the United States’ strategy in confronting major and emerging powers while managing its movements in the international system.

One of the unique aspects of this book is its focus on tracking and studying the responses of small and medium powers in international politics to emerging threats, and how they interact with great, major, and emerging powers in order to safeguard their geopolitical status. The book provides insights into the strategies adopted by selected countries in the Middle East, and proposes an appropriate strategy for Iraq in responding to threats in the regional and international environment.

“Geopolitical Insurance” presents a new theory in the field of international relations, establishing a cognitive framework that explains the behaviors and strategies of major and minor powers through the “threat response theory” in international relations. This book is intended to be a valuable resource for students, researchers, and strategic and political experts who seek to understand the dynamics of state movements, interactions, and responses to threats in international relations.

Furthermore, the book provides decision-makers with strategic insights that align with the interests of their countries and the limitations of their political, military, and security capabilities. It sheds light on the challenges and complexities of the US-Iranian competition in the region, particularly in Iraq.

We believe that “Geopolitical Insurance” will contribute to the academic discourse on geopolitics and international relations, providing valuable insights and analysis for scholars and practitioners alike.
