The fourth Baghdad International Dialogue Conference commenced with an opening speech by Abbas Radi Al-Amiri, the Director of the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue and the Executive Director of the Baghdad Dialogue Conference.
The speech highlighted the challenges of Iraq becoming a regional and international actor, expressing sadness at the characterization of Iraq as a weak and failing state.
The regional policies and interactions among major powers have made Iraq a battleground for influence, hindering its ability to overcome value contradictions with neighboring countries and act as a mediator in the face of escalating tensions.
The Iraqi elite has the opportunity to transform Iraq into an internally and externally influential state that aligns with the international environment and interacts with it.
The strategic goal of the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue is to overcome the failures and weaknesses imposed by external policies and develop a comprehensive strategy for Iraq to become an active state and escape its current predicament.
