"Baath from Secularism to Jihadism," by researcher Mohammed al-Saabri, was recently published by the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, addressing the ideological shifts of the Baath Party in Iraq, from secular nationalist thought to the adoption of religious and jihadist discourse, especially after 2003.

The themes of the book

The repercussions of the first and second Gulf War on the Baathist regime and its impact on its political control.

The 1991 Shaaban uprising and how it forced the regime to reformulate its ideology to ensure its survival.

The 1993 faith campaign and its role in transforming the Baath from a secular party into an entity that employs religion as a political tool.

The Baathists after 2003 and their role in founding and leading jihadist groups in Iraq.
