Adnan Tabatabai: Iraq needs a development model that stems from within
Adnan Tabatabai, director of the German Carbo Foundation, emphasized the importance of Iraq finding its own development path, stressing that copying development models from other countries will not be sufficient or appropriate for the Iraqi reality.
Tabatabai explained that Iraq has great internal potential that must be invested first, with openness to the experiences of other countries such as the Gulf, Iran and Turkey, but without total dependence on them. "Iraq is a unique case" that needs solutions that stem from its realities and actual needs, he said.
Regarding CARPO's role in the seventh Baghdad International Dialogue Conference held in February of this year, he explained that the organization focuses on bringing new international faces and participants to Iraq, with the aim of promoting direct interaction with the Iraqi context and forming realistic perceptions away from stereotypes.
Tabatabai emphasized that this initiative aims to stimulate critical and comparative thinking about development in Iraq and encourage constructive dialogues that combine international expertise with local specificity.
