Former member of the European Parliament: Iraq has a pivotal role in regional connectivity
Former Member of the European Parliament, Ms. Patrika Mari, expressed her pleasure for her first visit to the Iraqi capital Baghdad to participate in the 7th Baghdad International Dialogue Conference, which focused on the Belt and Road Initiative, noting the importance of this event in enhancing regional and international cooperation.
In a media statement on the sidelines of the conference, Mary said that she had previously visited several Middle Eastern countries such as Syria and Iran, which gave her a good understanding of the nature of the challenges and opportunities facing the region, stressing that her presence in Baghdad adds a practical dimension to her research and knowledge experience.
She added that her participation in this conference stems from her deep interest in the Belt and Road Initiative, which she follows closely as part of her activity in her think tank, stressing that the initiative represents a strategic opportunity for the countries concerned to enhance infrastructure and economic integration, hoping that it will achieve its desired goals for the benefit of the peoples of the region.
She concluded by emphasizing that Iraq has a pivotal position in this initiative, and that strengthening its participation will contribute to consolidating its role as a link between East and West.
