American expert: Iraq's strategic location qualifies it to lead West Asia's economy
David DeRoche, a professor at the Near East and South Asia Center in Washington, said that Iraq has a unique geographical location that makes it a natural hub for regional trade in West Asia, despite the political turmoil it is going through.
In a press interview, he explained that Iraq has historically been a crossroads for trade between multiple regions, which gives it great strategic potential.
De Roche emphasized that the solutions to Iraq's security and political issues are well known, but the real challenge lies in their effective implementation. He expressed his confidence that dialogue conferences, especially the Baghdad International Dialogue, provide participants with the opportunity to build trust and motivate them to make the right decisions.
He added that his repeated visits to Iraq have revealed tangible progress in several areas, noting that the self-will and potential energy of the Iraqi people will contribute to restoring the country to its regional and international standing in the near future.
