Dr.. Hamza Sharif: "Baghdad International Dialogue" is a regional platform to promote understandings
Dr. Hamza Sharif, representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Iraq, stressed that the Baghdad International Dialogue Conference is an important opportunity to exchange views and ideas among participants from diverse backgrounds and environments, whether from the East or the West, stressing that this diversity enhances the chances of success of the conference and the achievement of its goals.
In a press interview on the sidelines of the seventh edition of the Baghdad International Dialogue organized by the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, Dr. Sharif explained that "the overall objective of the conference to enhance regional - and perhaps even international - cooperation is itself a key focus that complements all the sub-headings on the agenda."
He pointed out that cooperation among Middle Eastern countries is the best option for achieving sustainable development, raising welfare levels, enhancing security and stability, as well as driving economic and political growth in the region.
He added that the belief in the feasibility of joint action at this critical stage in the region must be the basis for any future development path that aims to improve the lives of peoples and promote opportunities for peace and prosperity.
