Under the patronage of the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohsen al-Mandalawi, the Faculty of Political Science at Baghdad University and the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue held the second international conference under the title "Methodological and epistemological developments in political science: Political Science in Iraq and the Arab World".

The First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohsen Al Mandalawi, stressed the importance of supporting research and strategic studies centers and their role in providing accurate scientific and social visions that contribute to addressing the challenges facing Iraq, stressing the need to strengthen political science by empowering it academically and methodologically with effective government support.

Mandalawi explained in his speech that the intellectual and political restrictions imposed by the previous regime on the field of political science prevented its development and severed its connection with global developments, which prevented the country from benefiting from these sciences in developing the structure of the political and social system. He added that the current stage calls for rebuilding this vital field, especially in the fields of political development, comparative politics and political thought.

The opening session of the conference witnessed official speeches, started by Mr. Mandalawi, followed by the speech of the President of Baghdad University Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, then the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Abdul Hamza Thajil, followed by the Director of the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue Prof. Abbas Al-Amiri, and concluded with the speech of the President of the Iraqi Society for Political Science Prof. Omar Juma Omran.

According to the organizing committee, the conference aimed to create an Arab scientific platform that promotes cooperation between political science professors and researchers, highlights the Arab role in enriching the theory of knowledge, discusses the methodological and technical challenges facing this field, and offers proposals and solutions to overcome obstacles and achieve a comprehensive knowledge renaissance.
