Ashura and the Immortal Message of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)

With the advent of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar and one of the four holy months, Muslims around the world recall one of the greatest moments in their spiritual and political history: The Battle of Karbala, which embodied the highest meanings of redemption, justice and upholding the truth.

On the tenth day of Muharram (Ashura), 680 AD, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), the progeny of the Prophet Muhammad, stood firmly in the face of the tyranny of Yazid bin Muawiya, refusing to pledge allegiance to the unjust ruler at a time when most people preferred silence and subservience.

Hussein was not a student of power, but a martyr of principle

In a stance that embodies the true spirit of Islam, Imam Hussein (AS) chose the path of martyrdom over bowing down to injustice. He left Medina for Karbala with his family and companions - 72 men, women and children - fully aware that he was marching towards death, not military victory. He chose to stay on the path of truth, refusing to sell his conscience in exchange for survival.

When they were denied water in the desert of Karbala, under a blazing sun, the Imam and his companions showed legendary patience. The Imam fought until his last breath, defying an outnumbered and outgunned army, before falling as a martyr, his body riddled with wounds and arrows, while his voice remained resounding in the memory of history.

Karbala: A continuation of the sacrifice of Abraham and Ishmael (peace be upon them)

The position of Imam Hussein (AS) represents the ultimate extension of the sacrifice of Prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael, who provided the most magnificent example of compliance with God's will. This time, however, God did not intervene miraculously to save Hussein, but wanted Karbala to be an eternal lesson for all mankind, that God's path is not easy, but full of painful tests, and survival is for those who are patient and steadfast.

Imam Hussein above sects and denominations

Hussein (AS) is not the property of one sect or another. It is a universal human value. Every Ashura, hearts are shaken from one end of the earth to the other: Chests are beaten, tears are shed, and one cry is raised: "May Allah bless you, O Hussein", a call that transcends sectarianism and embraces the free human conscience.

The eternal message: Islam's attitude and courage

What Imam Hussein (AS) did was not just an individual sacrifice, but a practical demonstration that Islam cannot be sold or bargained for. When injustice prevails from within, it must be confronted, even at the cost of one's own life.

Karbala is not a story... it's a way of life

Imam Hussein (AS) was not looking for a political victory or personal revenge, but rather a fulfillment of his grandfather Muhammad's commandment: "I went out to seek reform in my grandfather's nation, I want to command what is good and forbid what is evil." Therefore, his memory will remain alive, and free people will learn from it how dignity is more precious than life, and how silence in the face of injustice is a betrayal of the truth.
