The British are turning on Trump: His threat outweighs terrorism and China!

A new poll has revealed a sharp deterioration in the image of the United States among the British public, with a third of Britons now considering US President Donald Trump "a greater threat to national security than terrorism or the rise of China," in a remarkable shift that reflects the magnitude of concern over the repercussions of his return to the White House.

According to a report by the British Foreign Policy Group, those who see the US as a responsible partner on the international stage dropped from 53% last year to just 38% this year, while those expressing "distrust" of America jumped from 26% to 41%.

Trump at the top of the threat list

The most shocking results came when Britons were asked about the top threats to their national security, where Trump ranked first with 33%, ahead of terrorism (32%) and the rise of China (25%), reflecting the magnitude of fears of his return to power after the 2024 elections.

A breakdown in the "special relationship"

According to the poll, public support for the idea that the United States is Britain's "closest ally" has collapsed from 54% to just 31%, the lowest level in decades. In contrast, those who see the EU as the UK's most important ally rose from 17% to 29%.

Returning to Europe after 'Trump's disappointment'

Interestingly, 62 percent of respondents were willing to reconsider Brexit-era options, believing that Trump's return calls for greater rapprochement with the EU. This reflects a shift in the British political mood toward U.S. policies, especially the controversial Trump administration.

While terrorism and the rise of China remain among the top threats, Britons are increasingly concerned about the U.S. political leadership, which, according to the poll results, has become a greater source of strategic disruption than traditional adversaries.
