During his participation in the 8th Baghdad Dialog Conference, organized by the Iraqi Institute for Dialog, Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi confirmed the government's continued efforts to combat corruption and recover stolen funds. He stressed that this issue "is ongoing and I will not stop."

Al-Zaidi said that the government is working to follow up on the issue of restricting weapons to the state, pointing out that, through direct or indirect dialog, some parties have been disengaged, explaining that the difference may be in the mechanism of handing over weapons, but the ultimate goal is to achieve its limitation to the government.

"The most important thing is disengagement," he added, explaining that the intention is military disengagement rather than political, and that the weapon "remains with the government."

And regarding the possibility of confrontations against the background of the arms control file, the Prime Minister confirmed the lack of intentions for clashes, saying that the concerned authorities are "Iraqis and our sons," pointing out that there is dialog and understanding on the subject, and that "there is no clash or confrontations."

Lifting Immunity and Fighting Corruption

In the anti-corruption file, Al-Zaidi called on the House of Representatives to cooperate on lifting immunity, stressing that this is necessary to proceed with anti-corruption measures.

He explained that the goal of the campaign is to "return and recover the stolen money," stressing that work will continue on this path.

Salaries are insured

And on the salaries of employees, the Prime Minister stressed that the salaries are “secured for this year”, and there is no problem in this regard, in a letter of reassurance about the financial situation during the current year.

Alternatives to Oil Exports and the Strait of Hormuz

Regarding the repercussions of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the search for alternatives to export oil, Al-Zaidi said that the current alternatives are "unconvincing and timid" with regard to export, noting that there is a study of other options.

He explained that among the routes on offer is a pipeline through Aqaba, as well as the Ceyhan route, but stressed at the same time that "the Strait of Hormuz route cannot be abandoned."
