Session 3: Iraq in the Global Energy Equation: Partnerships and Strategic Transfers
The fourth session of the 8th Baghdad International Dialog Conference, which is being held in the capital (on the 21st and 22nd of this month), addressed the future of Iraq in the global energy equation, in light of the rapid transformations witnessed by the sector and international partnerships, and security events in the region.

And Hassan stressed that "the Central Oil Company was not affected by the crisis of the Strait of Hormuz, because of the solutions followed by the Ministry of Oil, which made a big difference, and quickly overcame the crisis of the US-Iranian war," while stressing that "the Hormuz crisis has created a clear assessment of the work of companies."
And he pointed out that “the Ministry of Oil will hold new dialogs with the United States, on the understandings concluded between the two sides.”
And about the oil patches and new contracts, Yassin said, "There are 7 oil exploration patches and various contracts," noting that "the ministry has produced companies that can deal with them," especially during the crisis, and those with which understandings were made in America during Al-Zaidi's visit."
And next week, there will be new licensing rounds for oil exploration blocks.”

For her part, the General Manager of Total Energies in Iraq, Ms. Donia Chalabi, confirmed that the partnership with Baghdad is excellent, as well as other oil companies, noting that "the company has 5 giant oil projects in Iraq and will be implemented soon."
And Chalabi confirmed the cooperation of TotalEnergies from the Iraqi government, saying: "We are partners with the Iraqi government, whether in crises or others, but we are in one boat."
BP: We focus on developing the entire Kirkuk field and support Iraq's plans to increase oil production
Zaid Al-Yasseri, General Manager of BP in Iraq, confirmed that the company intends to focus on developing the entire Kirkuk field, due to its strategic importance, geographical location, and the size of its reserves. He indicated that the company supports the Iraqi government's plans to increase oil production.
Al-Yasseri said that the Kirkuk field is of great strategic importance to the Iraqi energy sector, both in terms of its geographical location and its large size, indicating that BP will direct its efforts towards developing the field in a comprehensive manner.
He added that the company supports the directions of Prime Minister Mr. Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi to increase Iraqi oil production, stressing that this comes within the framework of the long-term partnership between BP and the Iraqi government.
Al-Yasseri pointed out that the development of Iraqi oil fields is a key axis in enhancing Iraq's production capabilities and achieving optimal utilization of its oil resources, in a way that supports the national economy and strengthens Iraq's position in global energy markets.
He stressed that the continuation of the partnership between Iraq and BP opens the way for the implementation of development projects that contribute to raising production efficiency and enhancing investments in the oil sector, in line with the Iraqi government's plans to develop the oil industry and increase economic returns from it.
