Proceedings of the Baghdad International Conference 2021

The activities of the Baghdad International Conference, organized by the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue. Activities had been launched on August 21, 2021, in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital, with the participation of political figures, thinkers, and academics.

Conference President, Dr. Munir Al-Saadi, President of the University of Baghdad gave the opening speech at the conference.  He pointed out that this conference is being held simultaneously with changes in the world, adding that the world faces many major challenges, perhaps the most important of which is the Corona pandemic, which suspended life activities due to the risk of disease.

He also pointed out that Iraq in its deep history has been an active force in the world, but that in the past decades Iraq has been under the influence of political changes, whether internal or external, made it lose much of the luster of civilization, its presence in politics and economy declined, and its active role became very limited, as well as its economic decline.

Abbas Radhi al-Ameri, director of the Iraqi Institute for Dialogue, said Iraq had been transformed into a theatre of conflict because of regional policies and the logic of conflict that its neighbors were taking to extend their influence so that it would be difficult for Iraq to overcome them.
