Second Baghdad Dialog Conference

Under the slogan "The two martyrs of Al-Baqeran, unity of goal and integration of approach" and under the auspices of Sheik Dr. Hammam Hammoudi, First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, and wide international participation from 15 countries and in the presence of a group of leading thinkers from across the Islamic world, was held on Saturday, 4-7-2018 AD within the activities of the Baghdad Dialog, the Al-Baqerin International Conference at the Rashid Hotel in Baghdad.

The Baqerin International Conference is the first of its kind, and its holding coincided with the thirty-eighth anniversary of the martyrdom of Mr. Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr (1980), and the fifteenth anniversary of the fall of the Baath Party regime in Iraq (2003).

Dozens of religious, political, intellectual, and academic figures from inside and outside Iraq participated in the conference, which was held by the Iraqi Islamic Supreme Council. The conference witnessed several researches and studies that dealt with aspects of the biography, production, and jihad of the martyrs Al-Sadr and Al-Hakim.

In the opening session of the conference, which was held under the slogan (The Two Holy Martyrs: Unity of Objective and Integration of Methodology), speeches were delivered by the President of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Fouad Masum, the President of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Salim Al-Jubouri, the President of the Iraqi Supreme Islamic Council, Sheik Hammam Hammoudi, and the Secretary-General of the International Assembly for the Rapprochement of Islamic Sects, Sheik Muhsin Al-Araki, Sheik Muhammad Al-Zu'bi, a member of the Muslim Scholars Academy in Lebanon, and Dr. Shibli Al-Malat, a law professor at the University of Utah.
