Next Generation Diplomacy: The Craft and Practice of Diplomacy in the Global System
This book focuses on diplomacy in a globalized world, and the paths of diplomatic interaction between actors in international relations in light of the unlimited flow of interaction and communication in the global system. In today's world, diplomacy is no longer the exclusive activity of the State as the monopoly actor of this tool for implementing foreign policy. In the twenty-first century, diplomacy is shifting and expanding from a peaceful way of managing relations between States to a public interface between globalized societies.
And so diplomacy as a tool for implementing foreign policy no longer relies on traditional means to reach its goals, develop peace and manage its relationship between states and peoples, but rather on mass means to enhance its presence and ensure its existence.
In the way that States and non-State actors communicate in the twenty-first century, the boundaries of diplomatic engagement in the modern world have expanded beyond State Department personnel, to include many other entities and to reach many categories of people.
The forces of globalization and technological development have led to the transformation of the elements of sovereignty in the state system through governments to intergovernmental institutions, to non-governmental actors, which has lost the state's complete monopoly on diplomacy, and made its diplomatic tasks distributed to these parties and close to the masses in light of the collapse of social, political and economic barriers between what is internal and what is external.
Therefore, this book came to focus on diplomacy in the world of globalization, addressing its interactive paths in the world order and its modern patterns and forms, in order to increase diplomatic awareness, and to inform those concerned about the diplomatic movement between the actors in international relations in light of the communication revolution and unlimited interaction.
